Frequently Asked Questions About Home Health Care
Answers to the most common questions about home health services
What is home health care and how is it different from home care?
Home health care is skilled medical care delivered in your home by licensed professionals — registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists — ordered by your physician. It differs from home care (or personal care), which provides non-medical help like housekeeping or companionship. Gratitude Home Health provides skilled home health care only.
Does Medicare cover home health services?
Yes. Medicare covers 100% of medically necessary home health services if you meet the eligibility criteria: you have a physician's order, you are homebound, and you require skilled nursing or therapy services. There is no copay or deductible for Medicare-covered home health. Gratitude Home Health is a Medicare-certified agency and bills Medicare directly.
Who qualifies for home health care?
You may qualify if you have a physician's order for skilled services, are considered homebound (leaving home requires considerable effort), and need intermittent skilled nursing or therapy. Common situations include recovery after surgery or hospitalization, managing a chronic illness, or needing wound care, IV therapy, or physical rehabilitation at home.
What areas does Gratitude Home Health serve?
